En Primeur wines are still in barrel at the châteaux and are sold as ‘futures’ up to two years in advance of delivery. The price includes delivery in-bond to a dedicated storage account. Before your wine arrives in the UK you will have the option to specify duty-paid delivery to an address of your choice, but you will need to pay a release fee to cover duty, VAT and handling at the prevailing rates.

Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot

Description

91% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot. Still pretty unevolved on the nose, there is a hint of what is to come in the form of graphite, black fruit and just a whiff of violets. The palate is pure, flavoursome and dominated by the strictness of lovingly tended Cabernet Sauvignon. 15% press wine helps lend structure and weight. The château see it as somewhere between the 1999 and 2004 in quality and style. Walking up to the tasting room here you can sense that this is a special place where every effort is being made to produce the best wine they possibly can, and we have no doubt that the 2007, whilst not a blockbuster, will be very fine indeed. Drink 2015-2030. 17.3 points (out of 20)

"Highest percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon ever. Round and smooth and quite powerful. Very modern and easy - "Peynaud school of extraction", according to Frédéric Engerer. Not flashy! But a bit like malted milk. Very soft as opposed to the usual Latour style. Very round. Represents 2007 but not especially Latour (cf Las Cases) . "We really tried to muscle it up as much as we could", said Engerer (they included 16% press wine, much more than usual). But it's not that fresh. Well made but extremely unusual - a bit like 2003 by Bollinger in that respect. Perhaps it should be called '2007 by Latour', come to think of it? 17.5++ points (out of 20)."

"Very pretty and refined, with wonderful, silky tannin texture and ripeness. Full and harmonious, with lots of fruit at the end. A reserved and subtle wine. 89-92 points."
