Origin
The domaine was created in 1973 by Aimé Sabon and covers 50 ha of vineyards distributed among different appellations, including Côtes-du-Rhône Villages and Vin de Pays. These small plots allow a great deal of diversity and complexity in the final blends.
Taste
Deep ruby-red. Fruit-driven aromas of cassis, redcurrant, smoke and spice. Soft, lush and ripe, with enticing fruit and good balance. Finishing with savoury notes including roasted meats and leather.
Enjoy
Decant this wine to allow it to properly open up and partner with roast red meat or game dishes.

Staff Reviews

  • "Admiring the intesity of the deep, inky black hue of this wine, gives me the first indication of the weight and complexity that is to follow. An exuberant nose of sweet raspberries, cherries, mulberries, cloves, cardamon, white pepper, bitter chocolate and a pronounced licorice aroma combine to create a seriously classy bouquet. The palate too packs a real punch with unctuous black fruits, spice and an immense mouthfeel epitomising why CNDPs are often described as one of the heavyweights of the wine world. The finish is long, layered and multidimentional. Drink now or stash it away for a few years."

Press Reviews

  • "The dense purple-colored 2006 Chateauneuf du Pape, 80% foudre-aged Grenache and 20% Syrah and Mourvedre aged in small barrels, offers a beautiful bouquet of blackberries, roasted meats, sweet herbs, and new saddle leather. Full-bodied and super-concentrated with no hard edges, it should drink beautifully for 12-15 years."
