Origin
The Volnay appellation is known for its limestone based soil, with a topsoil of gravel and red earth, said to produce wines with plenty of body and finesse. Labouré-Roi ferment a portion of the grapes with stems still attached to add to the wine's tannic structure.
Taste
The wine has a bouquet of crushed berry fruits and subtle hints of violet. The fruit on the palate is ripe and forward, and the finish is grippy and long.
Enjoy
A classic partner for duck or game, or try with flavoursome mushroom dishes.

    Good value

    When you take out the cork, that's stamped Vonay Premier Cru Les Mitans 2006. Odd. Well it's certainly a better wine than you usually get for a village Volnay. I'm off for more.
