Description

Langoa-Barton is a firm favourite among UK consumers, owing to the very realistic pricing of its owner Anthony Barton and because the quality is always so high. A full-bodied wine, this is classic St-Julién - rich, complex and densely-fruity, with a complex finish. Although beginning to open now, this could equally be cellared for many years. Drink 2006-2020

    Lovely wine

I've had several bottles of the 2001 and it really hits the mark. Elegant, well balanced and perfectly ready for drinking. A great example of quality and value from Bordeaux.

Staff Reviews

  • "This is a Claret drinker's delight. A decadent nose of tobacco, currants, pencil shavings and a whiff of exotic spice. It is elegant and savoury in the mouth with soft chewy tannins and a deliciously long finish. Drinking wonderfully now, but could be kept for another 5 or so years."

Press Reviews

  • "This third growth has all the cigar box and graphite pencil shavings scents you would hope for and is as elegantly put together as a sharply tailored suit. Quite dry and savoury for a St Julien, and though it's maturing nicely, and with good decanting drinking deliciously now, it should be even more resolved in five years' time."

  • "Léoville Barton's sister property generally evolves faster. Very fragrant, well integrated and developed. Everything in its place and no excess of tannins. Great stuff for classicists while the rest will wonder what the heck the fuss is all about..."
