    Bloody delicious

Punching well above it's price, easy drinking but with style.

    Good wine, good value

Chris's review from April 09 is right on the mark. I too thought it tasted as good as some Bordeaux wines I've paid £12-£15 for; full of fruit although not as long as you'd expect on the first mouthful. I had a 2005 vintage, interesting to see if 2006 is any different. All in all, very good wine at this price, definitely recommended.

    Excellent

Great value for a wine of this fame and quality. Regularly noted by Parker as the best of its appellation, and he's rarely wrong. I'll be back for more of this (still got 2 bottles left...yum!).

    Try It

I have been drinking Pitray on and off for many years. It does not dissapoint. At this price you shoud give it a try. If it is to your taste it could be the wine you have been searching for.

    Yum

This is a great red. It has a dry and tanniny immediate taste which would suggest a more expensive wine. The aftertaste does not stay with you as long as you might hope. That only encourages you to go for another glug and I don't see much wrong with that! Well worth the money.

Staff Reviews

  • Well made Bordeaux at a sensible price

"Whilst its generally acknowledged 2007 was a bit of a bust in Bordeaux ( too much damp, grey weather over the summer) it does mean the wines are more open and accessible in their youth like this fantastic value right bank effort. Now, the 2006 was excellent but I was amazed by how open and fragrant the 2007 was. A beautiful nose of red cherry and cedar, medium body, soft tannin and fresh acidity on the palate meant that for me the 2007 is a winner. it's not at all deep or brooding but is an excellent, incredibly vibrant, everyday Bordeaux drinking now."
