Grape

Sauvignon Blanc

Origin
Cloudy Bay Vineyards was established in 1985 in the Wairau Valley in Marlborough at the northern end of New Zealand's South Island. Possibly the most prestigious Sauvignon Blanc in the world, it definitely lives up to its reputation.
Taste
A wine full of fresh herbal aromas and layers of ripe guava and tropical fruit. Gooseberries and passionfruits on the medium-full body; the palate is succulent and crisp with a long flavoursome finish.
Enjoy
Superbly refreshing served chilled on a sunny day, this is also a great match for meat or vegetarian stuffed peppers.

    Over Priced and Overrated

I used to look forward every year to the latest release from CB. This time I was very dissapointed. I thought it was to 'green' with very little fruit to speak of. Compared to other SB's from Marlbrough I don't think it is worth the money!

    Cludy Bay V Nobilo

Again, I agree that Cloudy bay is a class above but perhaps too pricey to open for just a glass when you feel the need. I think that Nobilio at less than half the price is a very good wine.

    Overpriced not Overrated

In my view Cloudy Bay's Sauvignon Blanc never disapoints in terms of quality. However I can't help feeling it is overpriced compared to the competition which has come on in leaps and bounds over the last few years.

    Falling behind the competition

I used to believe that Cloudy Bay was one of the finest Sauvignon Blancs that you could buy. Now I would sugget that you try the Astrolabe or the Villa Maria instead as these represent better value in my opinion

Try the villa Maria reserve instead

Tasting this wine VS The superior 2007& 2008 Villa Maria Special Reserve at half the price , shows how much the others have improved. defintately overpriced & overated

Good wine, shame about the price

Just drunk my first bottle of Cludy Bay for a few years. It still defines the style, and needs food to balance the intensity of flavour (it went perfectly with smoked fish). But with people like St Clair doing great things, it's certainly not good value.
