Description

Perhaps most famous for its prestige cuvée 'Cristal', Roederer Brut Premier is a serious non-vintage Champagne. Deliciously rich, with an overt fruitiness and nutty, yeasty notes, the finish is long, complex and rewarding.

    what a price

disagree with previous review on price front, even at 30 pounds this is still one of the best champagnes out there, its hallmark biscuits and crisp green fruit, lovely vibrant NV style at 25 pounds its an absolute steal!

Amazing wine, but price has gone up almost 50% in a year!

I found this champagne about year ago and thought it was one of the best NV champagnes I had ever tasted. At £23-£25 it was an amazing buy and I bought as many bottles as I could hold! Unfortunately at over £30 I think there are some Proseccos and Cavas out there that are much better value. Still if you are looking to spend a bit more without getting into vintage prices then this is probably the best you could buy.

The best value champagne of the mid-priced products

Having tried virtually every champagne on the market, including Roederer's 'Cristal', this is by far the best value/best quality of the mid-priced champagnes currently. (I say currently, as they can change the 'recipe' slightly at any time). This is definitely one to keep in the fridge to impress the guests. It is delicate and fruity, with the right amount of dryness, despite another critic saying it's not dry. It's dryness is masked slightly by it's fruitiness, but it is by no means sweet, just palatable. It's pretty close to the Cristal in taste, dare I say, and I hope it doesn't sell out before I have a chance to restock! It also comes in a very attractive, classy bronze box.

    AMAZING!

We are not massive fans of champagne, but we fell in love with this gorgoues bottle from Louis Roederer. After the guy at Majestic's recommended it to us. We tried it in store and brought 4 bottles for Christmas presents. We also treated ourselves to a few bottles for our 1st wedding anniversary. Its very light and fruity and not at all dry and heavy (as we usually find champange to be!) We now always have a bottle in the chiller (just in case need to celebrate anything) So when we see there on offer, we like to come and get a few. THANKS majestic for recommending this to us.

Staff Reviews

  • My Favourite NV

"I'm fortunate enough to get to try quite a lot of different Champagnes, but I always come back to Roederer. Lots of traditional bready, autolytic character, with a great seam of freshening acidity and layers of citrus and baked apple fruit. Delicious now, but if you can squirrel some away for a couple of years you'll be rewarded with even greater complexity."

Press Reviews

  • "Apart from the dearest, most champagnes are non- vintage (NV), ie blended from wines of different years to achieve a consistent style. This is one of the very best, with brilliant balance of toasty richness and lemony fruit."

  • "With champagne, as with most things in life, you get what you pay for. That the creamy, nutty loveliness of the best of the non-vintage grandes marques should come at a premium will surprise no one. Search around for a discount to take away some of the pain and let the dreamy quality of the wine do the rest."

  • "Roederer is one of the champagne greats, owning more vineyards than any other leading house and which supply two thirds of its grape needs. Brut Premier (40 per cent pinot noir, 40 per cent chardonnay and 20 per cent pinot meunier) is one of my favourite non-vintage champagnes, with a distinctively rich, honeyed, biscuity and notably full-bodied style. Celebrations were made for this."
