Origin
Established in 1861, Tintara was a pioneer in taking McLaren wines to the world. Today Tintara’s winemaking acknowledges the past and is inspired, producing wines of great regional character and individuality. Tintara is said to derive from the Aboriginal ‘Tinyinlara’, the local word used to describe the great constellation of Orion. According to legend, the stars depict ‘a group of young men hunting emus and kangaroos in the sky’. History is at the heart of Tintara. Because we're distributing this Web Exclusive to stores specifically to cover web orders, delivery may take a few days longer than normal and in some cases may be outside our normal 7-day guarantee.
Taste
Deep and rich red in colour with youthful crimson highlights. The nose has appealing ripe, plump dark fruits tempered by regional characters of dark chocolate and brown spices. The ripe, plump dark fruits on the nose continue to the palate, manifesting as juicy and plush dark berry fruits. A good balance of oak and acidity give the wine a sophisticated mouthfeel and length.
Enjoy
A perfect accompaniment to any grilled meat dishes or a rich sausage casserole.

We were a little disappointed in this wine, except for the price, and were comparing it with the excellent Wakefield Shiraz (our favourite). Will open the other 4 bottles earlier!

    Lovely wine, cracking price!

This is a lovely, rich, and complex Oz red. Superb with meats, cheeses, and good conversation. Long finish with subtle flavours. I bought 6 and plan (hope) to be disciplined to hold a few back for a couple of years. Well done, Majestic!

    Big Aussie

Deep colour, concentrated nose but fruity and expressive with even a touch of fruitcake. Flavours of dark fruit, chocolate - a big wine supported but not overwhelmd by oak. Worth another 2-3 years in bottle and don't be afraid to open 24 hours before drinking or, at least, finish the next day for an even more uplifting experience. Good value at discount price and, for those of a nervous disposition, dilute to taste!

    Good Shiraz

Sour cherry with pepper and spice. Let it breathe for a couple of hours if you can, it will certainly improve the taste.

Not top class, but an excellent Shiraz and terrific value for money. Suggest opening at least an hour prior to eating.
