Grape

Tempranillo

Origin
Real Compañía de Vinos was established in 2007 by Bodegas Muriel, as a project focusing on producing single-varietal wines from both Spanish and international grape varieties. This Tempranillo comes from 30-70-year-old vineyards in Manchuela, to the east of La Mancha.
Taste
Intense cherry red, with the purplish tints hints of youth. A fruit-focused wine with aromas of ripe strawberry, blackberry and red cherry, and subtle liquorice spice. Supple and rounded mouth-feel.
Enjoy
Try this alongside a homemade moussaka.

    not a favourite

Unfortunately I found this wine too fruity for my palette. The fruit tastes young and underdeveloped. perhaps the warning was there with the cherry description.

    Brilliant weekday wine

I think this is perfect weekday drinking wine. It is a little lighter than most riojas but i would say it's a pleasant fruit sensation rather than sweet. There's certainly none of the harshness that you get in many riojas at this price level. I've ordered 4 cases because at the £5 mark when you find a good one you need to stock up!

A rather disapointing wine with little distinct Tempranillo flavour. Rather thin and austere. Not up to the quality one can find from NW Spain, usually at a fair price.

    Beat a curry hands down.

This is an absolute winner, oozing with rich fruit flavours with a touch of balanced oak this one more than matched the curry I opened it with and at this price point, £4.99 on offer I will be down to my local store for a case, super stuff, but don't take my word buy it and try it.

  • A modern, fresh style, but with a touch of classical Rioja (2011 Vintage)

"A bodega set up in 2007 by Rioja's Bodegas Muriel, this comes from 40- to 70-year old vines and along with fresh red berries and a touch of tobacco, there are some nutty and smoky qualities. Juicy, crisp fruit and a nicely-judged kiss of vanilla balance nicely in a modern, fresh style, but with a touch of classical Rioja fragrance and richness too. (The Wine Gang, www.thewinegang.com, September 2012)"
