Grape

Pinot Noir

Origin
A high-quality Pinot Noir, that has benefited from the wide diurnal temperature variations in the Andes, which promote excellent ripeness of the grapes, while preserving their primary fruit characters. 2nd- and 3rd-fill French and American oak barrels provide the polish.
Taste
A richly fruity Pinot Noir, full of ripe strawberry and redcurrant flavours, supported by subtle notes of dried mixed herbs and woodsmoke. Medium weight, with soft and pliant tannins.
Enjoy
Try with smoked duck.

    Cracking for the price!

Excellent pinot for the price, A nice evenly bodied pinot with reasonable length and a nice hint of spice on the palate. Well worth £5.99

    Thin and watery

Greatly disappointing. No structure at all, just a taste sensation at the front of the mouth and then, nada. Not to be recommended.

For the price you can't really beat it.

Forget about all the negative toffy nosed comments about how poor this wine is. This wine, for the price, is certainly drinkable, certainly enjoyable and certainly value for money. Relax and enjoy quaffing a glass or two in the knowledge that you have not spent a fortune on a similar quality wine. This wine's vintage is only 2011 so therefore has not had the time to age or develop what previous commentators have said it lacks in class. Do I need to say more.

    Very poor

Very surprised by the more positive reviews. This wine is very sharp. Almost undrinkable on its own and not that good with food either. I feared it would give me a headache (I am susceptible to these when I drink poor wine) but I escaped. On the other hand my neighbour, with whom I shared it, did get a headache which she attributes to the wine. Like another reviewer I wondered whether it might have been faulty. The other bottle I bought is going into a casserole and I won't be buying it again.

One of the best balanced Pinot's I've tasted for a long time and up against French and New World counterparts, scored very highly. Well done Majestic, stunning value !

  • A lush, raspberry-scented pinot (2011 Vintage)

"a lush, raspberry-scented pinot that would be great with seared salmon, duck or caramelised roast veg. (Fiona Beckett, The Guardian, 29th September 2012)"
