Langoa-Barton is a firm favourite among UK consumers, owing to the very realistic pricing of its owner Anthony Barton and because the quality is always so high. A full-bodied wine, this is classic St-Julién - rich, complex and densely-fruity, with a complex finish. Although beginning to open now, this could equally be cellared for many years. Drink 2006-2020

"This is a Claret drinker's delight. A decadent nose of tobacco, currants, pencil shavings and a whiff of exotic spice. It is elegant and savoury in the mouth with soft chewy tannins and a deliciously long finish. Drinking wonderfully now, but could be kept for another 5 or so years."

"This third growth has all the cigar box and graphite pencil shavings scents you would hope for and is as elegantly put together as a sharply tailored suit. Quite dry and savoury for a St Julien, and though it's maturing nicely, and with good decanting drinking deliciously now, it should be even more resolved in five years' time."
