Grape

Pinot Grigio

Origin
The Karearea is the only falcon found in New Zealand and is a threatened species. Ned have a breeding pair, resident at the property, named Maggie and Astin. They take great delight in scaring away other birds thereby reducing the need for man-made pest control.
Taste
A nose of pear drop, blossom and nectarine leading to a palate that is softer, richer and more tropical in flavour than its European counterpart. Lovely purity of fruit with a smooth finish.
Enjoy
This will taste great alongside all manner of fresh salads and creamy pastas.

    A bit thin on flavour

Beautiful colour but a bit thin on flavour.

    Peachy surprise

A very different Pinot Grigio with a beautiful peach colour, fragrant bouquet and delicious refreshing flavours. Perfect for summer easy drinking or with a nice fresh salad or pasta.

    A firm favourite!

This wine is the firm favourite in this household. The aroma, the colour and, of course, the taste is absolutely superb!

What a contrast to the sauvignon from the same stable!

Smooth, and, more than welcome on my table. I'm practically 'stone deaf' and, not many of my sensory systems are worth listening to. There are no words to describe a really pleasant wine. How about. 'Supercalafragalistic --------? Just be prepared to duck, when a self proclaimed expert, tries to point my plate in the 'right direction!' Of course, i am always at my weakest ebb, when someone mentions the flavour of 'Salt & Vinegars -coupled with the subtle aroma of burnt 'Chicken Fat - so dear to us afficionados of 'yester year foods'.

Press Reviews

  • "Just to demolish my theory (or to prove that there are exceptions to every rule), there's a New Zealand producer called Brent Mariss who calls his wine The Ned Pinot Grigio – even though it has that telltale musky, peary note. But it's attractively crisp, too, so it's a bit of a hybrid. Try it with subtly spiced seafood and salads."
