51% Merlot, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc. Haut-Brion's second wine has changed its name from Bahans to Le Clarence Haut-Brion in honour of Clarence Dillon who purchased the property back in 1934 and whose grandson, Price Robert of Luxembourg, still administers the estate. The 2007 has classic Graves aromas of baked earth and warm bricks, and is well-balanced and perfect for relatively early drinking, 2010-2018. 16.3 points (out of 20)

"New name, new wine style! 51% Merlot, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc. Smoky, toasty, leathery notes on the nose. Pretty impressive intensity for a second wine! Round and supple on the palate - almost not like Bordeaux at all! Seems very Merlot based. Soft and supple with some hint of first growth polish. Neat, dry finish and pretty good length - just no great tannic depths. Debut vintage for this new name for the old Bahans, second wine of Haut-Brion. 17 points (out of 20)."

"Floral aromas, with currant and light sultana. Medium body and fine tannins. Angular. Falls a little short. Somewhat austere. This is the new name for Bahans Haut-Brion, the second wine of Haut-Brion. 85-88 points."
