77.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 7.5% Cabernet Franc. The Bartons maintain some fairly traditionalist views on viticulture, and made far fewer interventions in their vineyards than most of their neighbours deemed necessary. The results speak volumes for the importance of their excellent terroir, since this is an impressively complex and well-structured Langoa. There's an elegant, clean nose with a good balance of red and black fruits, good intensity on the palate and nice length - the fruit lasts well as the chocolatey tannins give structure. Drink 2012-2020. 15.9 points (out of 20)

"Very dark crimson. Sweet blackberries on the nose - much riper than most. Very flashy! Tastes like Rolland style even if I can't immediately think of a St-Julien where Rolland consults. Blind, this didn't taste like a wine from the Barton stable to me..., although it was certainly much more luscious than the Léoville Barton. 16 points (out of 20)."

"Lovely ripe fruit, with blackberry and cherry character and chocolate undertones. Long finish. Soft texture. 88-91 points."
