Origin
Peter Lehmann Wines was founded in 1979, when a group of struggling wineries banded together as a consortium, under Peter Lehmann's leadership. Today, the company sources grapes from 140 independent local growers in and around the Barossa region.
Taste
Benchmark Barossa Cabernet, with lifted and leafy blackcurrent aromas, leading into a palate of juicy fruit and dark chocolate flavours, framed by soft, dense tannins.
Enjoy
Partner with a roast fillet of beef.

    Smooth and dry

I was surprised to see the "fruity" description in one of the reviews, some of the other Peter Lehmann wines exhibit that characteristic, luckily this one doesn't, hence my liking of it's dark, smooth body.

Smooth & refined. Reasonable value at offer price. Would not pay full price. Excellent with cheese.

Press Reviews

  • Gloriously ripe and velvety-smooth (2010 Vintage)

"Cabernet from South Australia tastes like that from nowhere else – gloriously ripe and velvety-smooth. It's very hard to see why anyone wouldn't fall for this, except perhaps for the rather naff label. It's worth buying a bit extra to age too (Fiona Beckett, The Guardian, 7th March 2013)"

  • A soild addiiton to Majestic's list (2010 Vintage)

"Full-on in fragrance - this reeks (there's no other word for it) of pot pourri, lavender, even bath salts, in other words it's intensely pungent on the nose. There's a thread of blackcurrant Cabernet fruit here and there's a nice weight to the tannin texture. A soild addiiton to Majestic's list. Rating: 88/100 (The Wine Gang, www.thewinegang.com November 2012)"
