Chardonnay

Origin
Chardonnay accepts and reflects the terrior of the Carneros region and the fingerprint of the vintner. Fermented in 25-30% new French oak barrels and aged sur lie for eight months. During the ageing process, the barrels are stirred (batonnage) to increase yeast contact.
Taste
Notes of pears, apricots and melon with toasted spicy oak characters are complemented on the palate by stone fruit, vanilla and hazelnuts. Full bodied and creamy, with a balanced and powerful finish.
Enjoy
Enjoy over the next three years with chargrilled chicken or light fish dishes.

    over priced and over here

If you like Californian chardonnay and are prepared to pay double for it - then you'll like this. The usual billowing confection on nose and palate. Unless you're wedded to the west coast wine approach you'll be better off with a decent Chilean chardonnay at half the price where balance, acidity and bouquet are within the reach of those with reasonable sized pockets.

    Big bold chardonnay

If you like bold, oaky chardonnays you will love this one. Typical of the Carneros region and great value for money at £14 per bottle.

    Better than their 'top' wine

Carneros Chardonnay for under £20 is pretty rare in the UK and so this represents a relative bargain. Well structured throughout, with peaches and some tropical fruit, and an underlying vanilla and hazelnut from the oak, balanced by a backbone of acidity. This is a very decent Chardonnay, and far better value than the 'Brown Ranch Chardonnay' which is the supposed top wine from this producer.

    This delivers and some GVF

If wine is about balance then this has it in abundance in every department, from the harmonious stone fruit nose through to the rich buttery texture on the palate, which gives way to crisp acidity and a drench that just lingers

  • Excellent Chardonnay, not a buttery monster!

"'Classic' chardonnay aromas; ripe peach and nectarine, hints of vanilla and toasted oak with subtle undertones of wood-smoke. Very rich, concentrated stonefruit flavours, rounded by tost oak, leading to a spicy and sweet baked peach finsih."
