Grape

Tempranillo, Garnacha, Cabernet Sauvignon

Origin
This wine is made by an acclaimed cooperative in Cariñena, a small wine region to the east of Rioja, and is an extensively oak-aged blend of traditional Spanish grape varieties, bolstered by the addition of a small percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon.
Taste
Brilliant garnet red with an orange hue. The bouquet offers a complex mixture of roasted chestnuts, vanilla and savoury balsamic notes. Refined and smooth on the palate, with woody notes on the finish.
Enjoy
Best served with lamb or rabbit stew, or with a selection of mature cheeses.

    Fabulous wine for the price!

This is now my usual plonk. Well balanced medium red with vanilla and cherry. A lovely finish on the palate. Best thing about it, £6. I bet blind tasting will put this in a higher bracket.

    Good value traditional Spanish red

Hearty and oaky with Cabernet adding body to the traditional Rioja style. Has aged well and good with meat, cheese etc.

The cork on this wine was dated 2011, not 2001, and had clearly been the bottle a number of months. Slightly disappointed.

    A great winter red

At £5.99 per bottle when bought as a pair, this is a real bargain. Hints of black-cherry aromas and liquorice on the palate a real steal. It's a hearty Spanish, fairly fool-bodied wine which opens up if decanted or left to breathe for an hour or so at room temperature. I've had worse Riojas at twice the price. The cabernet adds a little mellowness to the grenache and tempranillo more associated with Spanish reds.

    Surprisingly complex

This wine is a great value for money alternative to Rioja, with a bit of a modern twist with the addition of Cabernet Sauvignon to the blend. Delicious with steak and chips!
