Origin
Bodegas Eguía are located in Elciego in the Rioja Alavesa subregion, where they have 50 hectares of estate vineyards as well as several partner growers, with vines averaging 40 years of age. This wine receives 30 months in barrel and 3 years in bottle before release.
Taste
Ruby red with medium density and a brick-like rim. The fruit is very mature, exhibiting raisin, prune and caramel notes, accompanied by vanilla, clove and leather. Silky mouth-feel and good length.
Enjoy
Drink with all slow-cooked lamb dishes, or with nutty-tasting cheeses.

    Average at best

Disappointing : In my humble opinion this wine is dull and unexciting . Does not linger on the pallet.

    Good to glug

A good wine to have whilst watching TV or with cheese - not very robust and would be lost with a meal

    Confused by Negative Reviews

A number of friends and myself did a blind tase test on the weekend with this wine and 4 other Gran Reserva's from Faustino, Riscal, Berberana and Lopez. This wine came in 2nd.

    Not worth £8

Thin and not very nice. There are far better Rioja's available for the price elsewhere - v. disappointing

    Disappointed

Weak, Not kind to the pallet, Nice to drink a glass of water to cleanse the pallet afterwards. The wine is on a par to a bottle of cheap Spanish wine at £3.99. Sorry but a big disappointment.Thought I was in for a nice bargain as the price was reduced so much. Good cooking wine unfortunately.
