Bodegas Ramón Bilbao is situated in a privileged location: Haro, in Rioja Alta, a paradise where Rioja's emblematic grape variety, Tempranillo, grows best. From vines with an average age of 46 years, this deeply concentrated, intensely fruity Rioja is a blend of 50% Tempranillo and 50% Garnacha. Following six months ageing in American oak casks, the result is a wine bright cherry red in colour with aromas of sweet cherries, blackberries and brioche. Well- structured with a long and pleasant finish which would be ideal with red meat stews and cheeses.

"Single vineyard rioja is unheard of at this price, so tuck into this superb, ripe, spicy, plummy tempranillo/garnacha blend. It is a lot less oaky than most sub-£6 Riojas, and all the better for it."
