"..a glass-coating inky purple with an expressive bouquet of pain grille, pepper, pencil lead, bacon, and blueberry. Intense, mouth-filling and structured..." Jay Miller, The Wine Advocate, 91 points
"This has long been a favourite of mine. To me, the McRae Wood Shiraz is to Australia, what Forts de Latour is to Bordeaux. Inky in colour, the wine delivers a knockout nose of ripe black fruits, licorice, and crushed black pepper. The rich and concentrated palate of licorice, plums, and sweet oak is well integrated, and held together by the fine tannins."
Clayton Smith,
Fine Wine Manager

The nose shows classic varietal aromas of stewed plum, blackberry and violets, the palate is smooth and inviting, filled with ground coffee, vanilla and dark chocolate characters mingling with classic blackcurrant fruit.
-
White peach, nectarine and citrus fruits leap out of the glass, preceding a ripe, mid-weight palate of peach, pineapple and a subtle cinnamon note. A creamy texture and good acidity give the wine a solid backbone.

Delicate lemon lime and light floral orange blossom dominate both the nose and palate.

Fresh, intense aromas of cassis redcurrants and a touch of mint promise a palate which does not disappoint, packed with ripe berry fruit and licorice.

This great example of Clare Valley shows a spectrum of citrus flavours through the wine, a mineral backbone and exceptional length.
