Grape

Pinotage

Origin
South Africa's signature red grape does remarkably well in the relatively cool climes of Stellenbosch, where long ripening allows the purer fruit flavours to come to the fore. This example is treated to 8 months' ageing with French oak staves.
Taste
Raspberry, cherry and mulberry characterise the fruit profile, while the variety's trademark earthy, smoky aromas are delivered with subtlety. Tannins are soft and balanced by snappy acidity.
Enjoy
Can be paired with red or white meaths, preferably roasted or chargrilled, with flavoursome roasted vegetabled.

    A good everyday Pinotage

As the price indicates, this is a wine for everyday table use. I happen to be very fond of Pinotage so I will certainly be buying more of it, and probably (as a new customer) other wines also.

Don't let the nose fool you!

You fo not expect anything as bad as this from a screw top wine. Decanted for two hours ...my wife gagged on tasting it and I laughed ...until I tasted it, - aftertaste of moludy cardboard. Spoilt dinner. Second botttle tasted only marginally less musty. Will return to store ...

    In a word....awful

Thought I'd buy 4 as a sample as I've actually been to this winery before in South Africa, but this one is terrible. Drank half the first evening and it was not good, so we left the rest for the following day, hoping it would improve a bit...but after a day the rest was just as bad. Maybe too young as a 2010 "vintage", but my advice would be to avoid and look for something else.

Super pinotage at a super price

Once well-breathed, this wine is a blissful example of this unique South African grape with a smoothness that is satisfying
