Grape

Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella

Origin
From the beautiful hilly villages east of Lake Garda, Ripasso wines have had a portion of the fermented, dried-skins from Amarone added to them. Valpolicella Ripasso therefore combines the power and class of the Amarone with the bright fruit of the classic Valpolicella.
Taste
A beautiful deep ruby hue and lots of almost confected cherry, plum and berry fruits complemented by vanilla hints. Fine and rounded, a velvety smooth palate bursting with intense and complex flavours.
Enjoy
The perfect companion for all types of meat and seasoned cheeses.

    Goes well with several dishes

If you wanted to drink Amarone but thought it would be too heavy for the dish you were having, this is a good alternative choice.

    Full of taste

An excellent choice for a Saturday TV night. Goes with TV dinner but stands alone as a full and fruity dring. Nice on the finish and worth the discount price odf £12.99 Possibly dear at he one bottle price of £15.99

    Review system works again

What an outstanding wine for that special occasion ... in this case, dinner on Christmas Eve.

    Ripasso Classico

Its smooth, its ready, its cherries, its fine grained tannins, its off dry but then its dry, its a very nice experience. A great compromise between amarone prices and valpolicella smoothness

    Too oaky

I've really enjoyed previous vintages, but the 2010 was too dominated by oak for me.

Winner of our Christmas Blind Wine Tasting

This wine was a surprise to us all - being the clear all round favourite of 7 red wines we blind tasted over the evening with 10 friends.

  • "Classic Ripasso style from the Valpolicella region, with typical notes of sweet and sour chocolate and damson fruit. Impressive concentration, lovely black fruits, a hint of volatile acidity and a spicy finish. Score: 90/100"
