  Verdicchio under screwcap

  Classic example of the relatively little known Verdicchio grape. From the Le Marche region, on the Adriatic coast of Italy (opposite side of the country to Tuscany), comes this excellent wine. Verdicchio goes so well with chicken and seafood dishes from the area but also has enough body and structure to cope with much heartier food. If you have not tried the variety before then get down to your local Majestic and get some of this, it will not dissapoint. It is also good to see it under screwcap as most Italian wines, white and red, are still sticking to traditional cork for their bottle closure. In my opinion the whites especially would benefit from more screwcaps.

  Benchmark Verdicchio

  Its hard to understand why Pinot Grigio is so popular when this is available at a similar price.One of my house whites and also worth trying in its other variations from the same producer - Pallio di San Floriano etc. Very versatile and good as an aperitif.

  Excellent Italian Wine

  This is a lovely fresh and fruity wine which goes down very well as an aperitif or with a meal such as a salmon dish. Highly recommended.

  Very acceptable wine.

  A very pleasant wine. Easy on the palate. I find I can drink this wine just on its own. No pretentious food requirements or any other "wine snob" requirements. A nice enjoyable wine.

  "Another Italian, this time from Le Marche, on the Adriatic coast, which gives it a distinctly salty, citric tang to add to the crisp and elegant dryness that is characteristic of this lovely grape.
