Origin
The white wines of the village of Gavi in Piedmont have been dubbed the Chablis of Italy, due to their fresh, steely minerality. Wines from the vineyards closest to the town are labelled Gavi di Gavi, and this one is made from late-harvested grapes.
Taste
Ripe peach and pears with hints of citrus and a slight honeyed edge held together by steely minerality and a fresh acidity.
Enjoy
An ideal apéritif, this wine will also complement poached white fish with a rocket and cherry tomato salad.

    As good as Gavi gets

As perfect an execution of the subtle, light, but satisfying Gavi style as you will find. A really elegant wine.

Gonna be the next Pinot Grigio

Gavi is certainly gaining in popularity and not without cause. Less tart than a Sauvignon and not as bland as a Pinot, this has to be my all time favourite white variety. But that's just my opinion!

    Excellent colour, body and flavour

I have slated one other wine - an Aussie Riesling, so I think it is only fair to state that thegavi di Gavi which came in the same delivery was really enjoyable - as nice a Gavi as I have had this year.

2009 was great with ripe peach aromas and an off-dry finish, 2010... nowhere near the same quality

2009 was great with ripe peach aromas and an off-dry finish, 2010... nowhere near the same quality. The 2010 is more akin to a steely chablis but not as good... shame!

A nice wine for the money....

A good value Gavi with lots of flavour, yet can be drunk without food.
