Riesling

Origin
The Mosel valley is famous for its very steep slatey vineyards along the Mosel river. Dr L is a non-estate wine, but brothers Ernst and Thomas Loosen work closely with the growers, and in this way are able to ensure excellent quality year after year.
Taste
The fragrant nose of honey, apricot and stone fruit carries through to the off dry palate. Refreshingly juicy, a touch of spritz and lively acidity add finesse and balance.
Enjoy
The aromatics and lively acidity of this wine, make it a perfect match to smoked haddock or trout.

    No Lose

The Doc turns out many a fine flute. This is entry-level and realistically priced. A fruity mouthful despite the abv, but a teeeeeeeny bit sweet for me.

Awesome easy drinking white - great with asian food

This riesling is best served v chilled so is a great wine for the summer and to accompany asian food. The wine has a really delicate aromatic flavour and because it is relatively low in alcohol it won't leave you with a fuzzy head in the morning!

    A great Sunday lunchtime wine!

Good to have a fresh, demi-sec, fruity low-alcohol white to drink at summer Sunday lunchtimes which doesn't mean spending the afternoon asleep. It would probably go well with crevettes/prawns &c., but I like it for itself with an olive or two.

    sweet lovely

classic sweeter version of reisling. Its wonderful with extreamly spicey South East Asia cruisine, especially with a drier style sauce.

    Great heritage, Great wine

We have a trade account who has this on their Wine List and they always say it is fantastic with smoked mackerel salad.

"More medium dry is Ernst Loosen’s keenly priced 2011 Dr L Riesling with its pleasing ripe, grapey, floral, aniseed-spiked taste. (Jane MacQuitty, The Times, 14th July 2012)"

  • Mouth-tingling acidity that fences with the sweetness (2011 Vintage)

"An ice-cold mouthful of not-dry riesling feels good in the same way it feels good to bite into a chilled chunk of melon, dripping with sweet juice…Think apple snow with mouth-tingling acidity that fences with the sweetness.(Victoria Moore, The Telegraph, 29th June 2012)"
