Riesling

Origin
From a superb estate in the south-east of Johannisberg in the Rheingau, produced under the direction of award-winning winemaker, Dr. Clemens Kiefer. Current estate owner, Donatus Prinz von Hessen, is 436th in line to the British throne!
Taste
Delicately dry, this pale, crisp Riesling displays green apple and apricot fruit, with a fine, lingering minerality that gives a pleasant length.
Enjoy
An interesting alternative to the usual seafood wines.

    Lovely, quaffable dry Riesling

This is a lovely dry Riesling. Not overly complex but has fruity citrus notes and a hint of minerality. It's very quaffable, not especially memorable though. I will definitely be buying again for tasty easy-drinking.

    Good value for money

A very smooth and enjoyable wine, closer to medium than dry by my taste.

    just a drinkable wine

I used to avoid reislings as i felt the snobbery of blue nun creep up on me. Dont be afraid this is a great wine.

    Beautifully drinkable!

This is a really approachable Riesling and lovely to drink on its own. It has a slight fruit driven sweetness which develops as it warms towards room temperature. Can’t tell you how it matched the dinner – we drank it too quickly!

    Nice!

A bit drier than I'd expect from a German Riesling, but with plenty going on. Good on its own or with a nice piece of grilled fish, we found this eminently slurpable.

Press Reviews

  • Typically attractive (2009 Vintage)

"A typically attractive, if slightly simple, modern dry German Riesling that carries its juicy citrussy fruit with a certain jaunty fleetness of foot that would enliven a piece of pan-fried fresh fish or even fish and chips. Rating: 86/100 (The Wine Gang, www.thewinegang.com, July 2012)"

  • "...for something no less delicate but dry and with slightly higher alcohol, the scintillating Riesling Kabinett Trocken, Prinz Von Hessen, Germany 2008 with its citrus and white blossom nose."
