Grape

Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignan, Grenache, Merlot, Syrah or Shiraz

Origin
An amazing value limited parcel from acclaimed Bordeaux winemaker Bernard Magrez, this combines Bordeaux and Languedoc styles. Part of the blend has seen ageing in French oak barrels for 6 months which, with some bottle age, has softened the once powerful tannins.
Taste
This is a powerful black fruit and spice-driven red, with layers of leafy, herbaceous complexity.
Enjoy
Snap up this wine while you can and marvel at the unbelievably low price over a rich beef stew.

    Top Red

Am not an aficiodado regarding Southern Reds, but this woderful example hits the spot. Serve at the right temperature and it will accompany the entire menu and leave the perfect aftertaste. Please keep stocking. Superb.

    Brilliant full bodied red

Love this red. At the bargain price of £6.49 at current discount will be ordering more. Full bodied and 14% which is how I like it. Get some in is my advice.

    Go steady with this

Very smooth, very gluggable, very strong. This is the problem. At 14% it's just too high in alcohol content. If only it was 12.5-13% it would be brilliant. On the positive side it does taste far better than the high alcohol chemical laden rubbish from Australia. So hopefully it won't be too head-ache inducing. I do wish Majestic would get in some decent swillable French reds.

    Bland

Both before and during dinner, I found this wine to be bland and tasteless. Strangely, it has a slight apple taste like a Riesling, so perhaps it would go better with fish.

    Top cherry snog!

Little tannin, big smooth cherry snog of a wine. I bought this for a fiver a while back. Wish I'd bought a palette then! Give it a go

I followed the reviewers and gave it a try. Thanks guys.

Can't believe how good this is.Would be good at £10 a bottle. On offer it's a steal.I don't drink much French wine-some £10 claret- as I prefer New World but this VdP is making me think I may be missing out.

  • "As Roy Ayers pointed out in his 1976 jazz-funk classic, 'Everybody Loves The Sunshine'. Bordeaux winemaker Bernard Magrez is no exception. He headed south to the Languedoc to create this seamless blend of almost every major French varietal. The result is a warm, comforting wine with luxurious plum and red berry fruit. It has a powerful but classy structure and a finish far longer than you'd expect at this bargain-basement price . You can taste the sunshine in every drop."
