Origin
Produced exclusively for Majestic, this wine proves that not all Red Burgundies are expensive, requiring lyrical and poetic descriptions or need to be treated with reverence. An honest-to-goodness, easy drinking light red at an incredible price.
Taste
Red fruits assail the nose from a vibrant ruby coloured wine. Aromas of raspberries, strawberries and cherry with a faint hint of spice lead to a soft, warm body of light tannins and a satisfying length.
Enjoy
Drinkable at any time, either as an apéritif or with lightly cooked red meats, poultry or soft cheese.

    A lightweight summer wine

If you like a really light fruity Burgundy to have at a BBQ on the patio or a wedding - this is it. Lovely label to impress too. Just don't keep it for the winter roast beef - it's 4 years old & it's underdeveloped & unlikely to improve with time but the price is right, bearing in mind how much goes to the Chancellor nowadays. Buy it whilst it's still around!

Well balanced and a good finish

I usually buy an Esperanza but this is much better. A very good all rounder

You get what you pay for.

Don't usually buy Burgundys because of the price and this just confirmed for me that you can't get cheap decent ones.

    Variety is key!

Hello, The two different reviews of the wine above just go to show how interesting wine can be! I loved it, and at 4.99, for a red Burgundy which is this drinkable, I think it's great value for money

    unimpressed

I was very disappointed with this wine. I thought it was thin and had a disagreeable, rather vinegary, aftertaste.

Press Reviews

  • "Terrific light, juicy, silky plum and strawberry-laden summer red that is a declassified single village, or cru, beaujolais and made entirely from the region’s 35-year-old gamay vines. Making use of the legal loophole that allows beaujolais growers to dub their wine red burgundy, this jolly, easy-glugging red makes a good lunchtime and midweek supper wine."
