Grape

Tannat, Pinenc, Cabernet Sauvignon

Origin
One of the most staunchly traditional winemaking regions, the Saint Mont appellation in Gascogne offers a number of indigenous grape varieties rarely found outside of southwestern France, as well as sharing Bordeaux's temperate maritime climate.
Taste
Notably rustic and 'Old World' in feel, with a savoury note reminiscent of red Bordeaux, and a warm palate of dark fruit. Rich and spicy with plenty of finesse.
Enjoy
Drink within the next two-to-three years, with a pot roast or beef stew.

Fruity Berries with a rich velvet purple & smooth

Fruity Berries. Rich velvet purple & smooth on the pallet - this was great - I had it with some tomato pasta, went down a treat - four stars easily from me

    sharp tannin

Deep colour, astringent. Best left open for a while to smooth the sharp edge of unripe plum. I expected better as the white I tried was superb

    Loads of ripe fruit.

Loads of ripe fruit. Colour the richest purple I've ever seen. Low tannin. Enough acidity not to taste flat. But not subtle. Do try it. It would also make the cooking wine to dream of. At the price four stars easily.

  • Rich, plumy and unmistakably French (2009)

"Rich, plumy and unmistakably French, this delicious red from Gascony is made from a blend of little-known grapes and makes a warming match for hearty dishes. (Giles Kime, The Telegraph, 30th September 2012)"
