Origin
Originally owned by Burgundian négoçe Antonin Rodet, this estate was bought by Gerard Bertrand in 2007. One of the Languedoc's highest vineyards, possessing the finely-balanced climate necessary for growing Pinot Noir, and has been the recipient of many awards.
Taste
A distinctive Pinot Noir nose of wild strawberries, with cinnamon and clove-like notes. The light fruit is backed up by tight and bracing tannins, leading to a long, mineral finish.

Unusually harsh for a Pinot Noir

Very average and unusually harsh and tannic for a Pinot. Not much fruitiness coming through at all. Definitely a one off purchase on this one!

    Very drinkable.......

Very pleased with this bottle, a little heavier than other Pinot's I have had but in a good way. Nice Jammy flavours, I opened a good 2 hours before drinking with great results.

    Smooth, classy, but lacking something.

Smooth and classy, but maybe something lacking - compared with Burgundy at 2-3 times the price! One-dimensional?? I'm getting over a cold! Don't let me put you off.But it doesn't inspire the urgency to have the next glass.

This was my review. I have changed my mind; my taste buds must have been numbed by my cold. I now find it as good as a lot of Burgundies at twice the price and very acceptable. I would give it four stars.

Great French Pinot with a nod to Marlborough

This is one of my favourite French wines for under a tenner. It's light and fruity enough to drink on its own but is equally comfortable with a roast duck. For me it's less of a Burgundy and more a Marlborough Pinot, probably because it's sweeter (not sweet!) than most burgundy's. It's worth a shot if you're a fan of new world Pinots - many of which are more expensive. Never had the '09 which people tell me was even better. Must've been excellent.

    Pity

The 2009 was, like other reviewers have said, a belter. Having just tried the new stock of 2010 I am disappointed to find this vintage nowhere as good. The 2009's fruit intensity, grip, and tannic structure is not there and it is more dilute. I've tasted a lot worse sub £10 pinot, but the new vintage is a bit of a let down.

  • Gorgeous Pinot Noir at a bargain price

"This wine is, without a shadow of a doubt, my favourite Pinot Noir under £10. On the nose it offers ripe cherry and strawberry fruit alongside a smokey sweet spice. This wine does not disappoint on the palate. The cherry and strawberry on the nose carry through to the palate along with fresh plum, juicy raspberry and a hint of rose petal. It has a great mouthfeel and a fantastic finish. Perfect with guinea fowl, cold meats and salads or equally fantastic on its own!"
