Grape

Syrah or Shiraz, Mourvèdre, Grenache

Origin
A red wine from the Lorgeril family of Cabardès, grown in vineyards of neighbouring Minervois. Minervois has been described as a 'south-facing amphitheatre', making for a natural sun trap, soaking up the warmth of the Mediterranean.
Taste
70% Syrah, this wine has a backbone of ripe and jammy morello cherry fruit, accented with subtle savoury notes. The palate is dry and spicy, with fine-grained, peppery tannins.
Enjoy
Drink with rustic, robust, roasted meat dishes, especially of duck, beef or game.

  • Unpretentious robust and rustic (2007 Vinatge)

"From the sun-baked Minervois area comes a typically southern French blend dominated by Syrah grapes. Unpretentious robust and rustic, full of dark-fruit flavours and with a lovely spicy edge that comes from plenty of time in the bottle, this is great for spring barbecues or is perfect with a bowl of pasta with a tomato-based sauce. (Terry Kirby, Independent on Sunday, 15th April 2012)"

  • white pepper touches (2007 Vintage)

"Languedoc likes blends, too. In the 2007 Domaine La Borie Blanche Terroirs d'Altitude, Minervois la Livinière, it's the grenache at just 10 per cent that adds the white pepper touches to the dominant syrah and mourvèdre. (Anthony Rose, Independent, 10th March 2012)"
