Origin
Since the 1980’s Vidal-Fleury has been owned by the Guigal family. Their support has allowed the business to flourish and has enabled them to continue to produce classic wines, blending traditional techniques with modern equipment. Today, the head winemaker is Guy Sarton du Jonchay, whose experience tracks back through Bordeaux, Australia's Rosemount Estate and Cavas de Weinert of Argentina.
Taste
Brilliant garnet in colour, with a classic Rhône nose of bramble fruits and heady spice. The medium-bodied palate has fresh and snappy red fruit surrounded by firm and persistent tannins.
Enjoy
Serve alongside Lyonnaise sausage or a herby cassoulet with duck confit.

    Awful!

This is the type of wine to get Cotes du Rhone a bad name! Keep well clear of it is my advice

    Oustanding value at £6.99

It does not get much better at this price point. really good value @ offer price of £6.99. Not quite sure that I would go and buy cases @ £9.99. Spicy, good tannins and just the right amount of summer berries. this wine will benefit from keeping. Fill your boots at £6.99

    Berry nice for all occasions

A truly versatile wine. I would rate it as a B (not a C) in terms of the body, but none the worse for it. Able to cope with an eclectic range of tastes and foods (or not). It was accompanied with a Lamb tagine and they dovetailed perfectly well together.

Staff Reviews

  • "A tasty Cotes Du Rhone to enjoy with or without food, and as we are still in the cold depths of Winter as I write this, I have relaxed with this Wine after a busy days work, sharing the bottle with my wife, and finding it a very easy drink!"

Press Reviews

  • Proper stuff (2010 Vintage)

"Rich nose. Vibrant. Well-integrated and serious wine. Too dry to drink without food – quite pinched on the end – but proper stuff (Jancis Robinson, JancisRobinson.com, 25th May 2012)"
