Created in 1952 by Daniel Maillard, whose family had been winegrowers in Burgundy since 1766, the Maillard Estate today is currently run by the two Maillard brothers, Alain and Pascal. Violet-purple in colour a complex and fine nose displays hints of plum, cherry and soft spices.
"Good Burgundy doesn't come cheap, but this bottle from a good vintage and an undervalued Côte de Beaune village delivers the fine, spicy, floral, gamey fruit pinot noir fans would pay much more for."
