Grape

Sauvignon Blanc

Origin
Grapes from up to 40 year old vines planted on the argilo limestone and kimmeridgian clay, more commonly associated with the Chablis region, imbues the wine with Pouilly-Fumé's classic richness, smokiness and complexity.
Taste
Rich and smoky on the nose, with subtle limes, white florals and honeysuckle atop a palate of fresh, clean and vibrant acidity, citrus fruit flint, minerality and green peppers. A long and layered finish.
Enjoy
Enjoy over the next three years with asparagus in hollandaise, Caesar salad or shellfish.

    Excellent but...

I have to say I enjoyed this very much I love NZ Sav Blanc's and this was a lovely alternative as I explore other wines. A bit pricey perhaps considering it has to come such a short distance but well worth it. Would definitely go for it again if on offer HINT!

Obviously a good propriete (via a good offer from majestic - lets have more !). Lovely smokey depth which shows loving growing care. Well better than average

    Buy some

We've been drinking Vavasour recently, Decanter rated it as the best Sav Blanc over £10 (even though Majestic sell it for just £9.99) and it is absolutely lovely, if you like SB you should try it. But, we opened this Pouilly -Fume this evening and, for me, the French have it. As is so often the case, the french wine has the delicacy. A degree of complexity that allows you to discover something new with each mouthful, all the fruit aromas but with a lightness of touch and a wonderfully long finish.

Tastes great from start to finish!

I think I've bought almost all the PF that Majestic has to offer and this one sits head and shoulders above the rest at the £10 mark. Slightly chilled it has that cabbagey, gooseberry, almost over ripe water melon (without the sweetness) taste but importantly without the harshness/ bitterness as you swallow. More minerally and less sweet than South African SBs so come on Maj' and reduce the price as I've nearly run out. Enjoy!
