Alan Johnson-Hill used to be a financier before settling at Château Méaume, north of Pomerol. Since then he has gained a justifiable reputation for quality winemaking with this rich, plummy claret and its soft Merlot fruit.

Superb wine for the money!

Brilliant bordeaux. Excellent balance of tannins and fruit and great concentration. Congratulations to the British owners of this chateau. I'll be back for more. By the way, the 2003 chateau matured wine was stunning, pity it's sold out!

Quite amazing for the money-I am never ashamed to produce this at a party.
We even preferred it to a 2000 Lynch BAges at the last outing.
