Château Rieussec

Château Rieussec 2006 Sauternes, 1er Cru Classé 12 x 75cl Bottles

An unusually waxy texture and slight disjointedness on this wine are almost certainly a sign that it has only just begun its evolution - there's lots going on here with plenty of sweetness, and the property's track record certainly suggests this will be a hit in the long term. 15.2 points (out of 20)

"Very dark with a hint of copper. Very big - lots of weight. Quite different from the rest - a risky note of sweet floral herbiness, something you find in Italian sweet things (candied peel?). Dry finish. Clearly pretty ambitious. Solid and creamy - pretty impressive though it needs lots of time. Very different from the other Sauternes in the UGC tasting."

"This is big, rich and long. Still tastes like must. Hard to taste, but should be fantastic. I love the richness and spice."
