Pauillac is widely recognized as home to some of the finest 'terroir' in the world, producing elegant, structured Cabernet-dominated wines. No less than three of the five famed ‘First Growths’ of Bordeaux are found here.

Predominantly a Cabernet blend, this wine is grown on Pauillac's deep, gravelly soils.
The second wine of the famous classed growth Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste shone in this magnificent Pauillac vintage. Drink it over the next 6-8 years.
The second wine (of Pichon-Lalande), the 2007 Reserve de Comtesse, is a lighter, but equally soft and approachable version of the grand vin. 87 points. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate (April 2010).
A classic Pauillac, this is an obvious major improvement from the proprietors, the Casteja family. 89 points. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate.
Deep ruby, purple colour with elegant blackberry and blackcurrant and truffle flavours, notes of cigar box, pepper and spices lead to hints of liquorice and earth on the finish.
"...the 2008 Haut-Batailley reveals delicious, sensual, black raspberry and black cherry fruit…" Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate (2009)
"...Abundant tannin in addition to a deep ruby/purple hue, superb purity, and a lovely texture are found in this delicious Pauillac…" Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate (2007)
The 2002 vintage was most successful for Cabernet-dominated blends from the Médoc and, according to Clive Coates, this Grand-Puy-Lacoste is in the top 20 clarets made.
A deep and intense appearance in the glass; the nose is enticing, offering characters of ripe berry with herb nuances as well as toasted oak. The palate exudes finesse, ripe dark fruit of blackcurrant and plum, precise flavours and fine tannins. This has to be the best Réserve de la Comtesse we have tasted (at Lay & Wheeler).
One of the rising stars of Pauillac, Pontet-Canet has made an excellent wine in the early-maturing 2007 vintage, and is believed by many to be a rival to many first-growth properties. Impressive purity of fruit, with good concentration and ripeness, and a firm tannic structure. Drink now - 2020.
"Medium to full-bodied, dense, and excruciatingly tannic, this impressively endowed Pauillac is built for the long haul." Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 90 points
"...A blend of 71% Cabernet Sauvignon and 29% Merlot, it is unquestionably outstanding, but to my taste, slightly less opulent than the estate’s ethereal 2003…" Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate
