2005 was a sensational vintage for Pinot Noir in Burgundy and the wines of Nicolas Potel demonstrate that very well. This is classic Gevrey, masculine and spicy with a nose of black cherry, graphite, woodsmoke and violets. The paalate is rich and dense with bags of potential and silky texture. It will drink beautifully with duck in a fruit sauce over the next 8-10 years.
