Origin
Much of the fruit used in this wine comes from some of Argentina's oldest Malbec vines planted in 1928 in Luján de Cuyo. Winemaker Roberto de la Mota is one of the country's most respected, and has worked with several top producers of France and Argentina.
Taste
Deep and inky, the wine exhibits ripe raspberry, plum and bramble on the nose, followed by vanilla and toast from 12 months in French oak. Voluptuous tannin and lush forest fruits fill the palate.
Enjoy
Drink now or over the next 3-4 years. Try with rich pasta dishes, or grilled lamb kefta.

Press Reviews

  • Big and glamorous and very well judged (2010 Vintage)

"Aged in French oak barrels. From Lunlunta vines planted in 1928! Big and glamorous and very well judged. Pure hedonism without too much alcohol. Some minerality. (Jancis Robinson, JancisRobinson.com, 25th May 2012)"

  • a wine that feels like it has a story to tell (2009 Vintage)

"No country makes malbec that is so gloriously perfumed or expressive as Argentina does. And there are few names I am so pleased to see on a bottle of it as Mendel whose winemaker, Roberto de la Mota, is one of the country’s most celebrated. Aged in French oak, this has old-world accents; a wine that feels like it has a story to tell. (Victoria Moore, Telegraph, 31st March 2012)"
