Grape

Viognier

Origin
Throughout the winemaking process, Alamos wines are made to emphasise varietal fruit character. The warm days and cool evenings in Catena's high altitude vineyards allow a long ripening period and preserve the fruit's full range of aromas and flavours.
Taste
This unoaked Viognier offers ripe apricot and delicate blossom notes. Light and crisp on the palate, with concentrated peach flavours. The finish is clean and refreshing with excellent natural acidity.
Enjoy
Lightly chill and enjoy now with baked fish or alternatively with rabbit and spring vegetables.

    Easy to drink

This Viognier was our first try on this grape, it was suprisingly fruity, good value for money and a new grape for us to explore further.

    Acceptable for the price

A good value wine, though not for food as a little too distinctive. Very acceptable for quaffing or as an aperitif

Ain't nothing going on but the coconut

Rather disappointing. At first gulp reminiscent of an ok NZ Sauvignon Blanc, but which rapidly degenerated into a dismaying coconuttiness (if that's a word).

    Good for the money

For that price not bad at all. A little lean perhaps but lovely aromas of nuts a citrus. Average length, possibly a little low on acidity. Would recommend while on offer.

  • Exotic, rich and great with mild creamy curries (2011 Vintage)

"This South American version has a spicy note of fresh ginger, over rich yellow plums and squashy dried apricots. Exotic, rich and great with mild creamy curries. (Susy Atkins, The Telegraph, 9th September 2012)"
