Grape

Mourvèdre, Petit Verdot

Origin
The 16th century Domaine is now owned and run by British couple Charles and Ruth Simpson. The name of this cuvée means 'the last varieties', the constituent grapes being the latest to ripen. They are vinified separately and partly oak matured before blending.
Taste
Deep, opaque purple-black in colour, this is a dense and weighty wine. The nose is a brooding mix of black cherry, liquorice and hints of rosemary, and the palate is jammy with lashings of ripe tannins.
Enjoy
Will partner steaks and hearty beef dishes over the next 3-4 years.

    Really Interesting

I have never tasted these two varieties together. It makes for an interesting and unusual blend. I get sick an tired of drinking the same things over and over again, so I found this wine a breath of fresh air. Really nice! Thoroughly recommend it.

    Interesting and tasty

This wine has an unusual combination of grapes which produces a equally intriguing combination of herbal teas and red fruits on the nose. I found it somewhat unexpected in a good way. One to try again – it was rather easy to over-indulge and look forward to buying again.

    Rather over-oaked for my taste

I agree, this is an adventurous combination of grapes and interesting because of that. But you'd have to enjoy the taste of oak more than I do to really appreciate this wine. There are other, more interesting notes being masked by the pervasive vanilla. I'd rate it only two stars were it not for the out-of-the-ordinary grape mix.

spicy well made , a little green character but nice

you might want to lay a couple bottles of this down for 2 years . the 2009 is still a little young but shows great promise. goes great with lamb!
