Taste
An intense nose of ripe blackberries and plums and black pepper and spices, a full body with soft ripe tannins, flavours of ripe juicy berries and hints of spice and a super smooth finish.

A delicious alternative to Cotes du Rhone

This wine was loved by all family and friends and whereas many wines pass without comment, several people asked which part of France it was from. I was first introduced to Cave Saint Desirat through their Lirac and the Beaumes-de-Venise is equally good. I find it enjoyable both as an accompaniment to meat dishes or to drink on its own.

    Not a sofa wine

We really didn't enjoy this wine. It was spicily unpleasant and medicinal. We've tried every Rhone on offer and virtually all the Grenache/Syrah blends hit the same spot like a Glenn McGrath over, but not this one.

    too spicy

A little too spicy to drink on its own but compliments well with food.

    delicious

This is the first time I have tried a Beaumes de Venises, but I will be buying more of this. Warming and spicy with plenty of smooth fruit. Went very well with roast lamb.

Press Reviews

  • "Thanks to a combination of nature and nurture, Rhône reds have a warming, threedimensional quality that it is rare to find elsewhere. This delicious example, made from a blend of Grenache with a generous helping of syrah (aka shiraz), is from an area in the south of the region better known for pudding wines and sometime lacklustre reds. This, however, has larger-than-life, plumy flavours, that are a shining example of the perfect winter."
