Grape

Merlot, Cabernet Franc

Origin
A rare parcel of fully mature Bordeaux from this small St Emilion Grand Cru producer, from a renowned and sought-after vintage. The château uses around 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc in this wine, a blend very typical of the region.
Taste
A mahogany tinged colour and complex nose of spiced plums, aged leather and woody cigar box aromas gives away the wine's maturity. Full-textured and long, with enduring savoury flavours.
Enjoy
Drink with slow-cooked beef dishes such as braised oxtail.

very poor; no body; no structure

the wine bears no resemblance to the tasting notes; this is worth less than half its price

    Careful decanting

Ordered two bottles, and one of them was obviously corked. The other bottle - we decanted allowing plenty of time. Quite heavy, but light after taste. Lack of bouquet.

    Very French

Almost like a tawny port. At first I thought it was a bit thin. What I liked was how it developed over a couple of hours. It did not swamp my meal but complemented it. No headache. Sensible alcohol content.
