Superb Chardonnay made by husband-and-wife team Walt and Joan Flowers, the aptly-named nursery owners turned winemakers, who have been developing their Sonoma Coast vineyards since 1989. This vintage shows crispness and intense fruit on the palate; lush and balanced citrus finish with roundness in mouth feel.

Paringa Estate Chardonnay 2008 Mornington Peninsula

Paringa Estate was started in 1985 by Lyndsay McCall, who abandoned his career in teaching to answer his calling to be a winemaker. The estate itself now comprises only 10 acres of vines, with partner growers providing access to a further 45 acres. This Chardonnay comes from three estate-managed vineyards, and is fermented in new and old French oak. The bouquet and palate display citrus, peach and nectarine characters along with the creamy nutty characteristics introduced by lees stirring. The mouth feel is long and rich and finishes with good natural acidity.
