Grape

Malvasia, Trebbiano

Origin
Orvieto is a DOC wine and comes from the area surrounding the medieval hill city of Orvieto in Umbria, where Pope Clement VII fled following the sacking of Rome. Traditionally vinified sweet, it is now dry more often than not.
Taste
Attractive pale colour with green lights and a fresh, fruity nose. Clean and full of citrussy fruity, with a nice nuttiness on the palate and a very crisp finish.
Enjoy
This will go really well with a salmon, pasta and pesto salad.

    Very good and dry

I liked the distinctiveness from Other dry whites, very dry with a slight resin flavor, though no mention of it oaked on label.

    Easy drinking Italian

I've enjoyed this wine for a few years - it was a great buy at £5.49, but the price has been creeping up and up and it's now overpriced at £7.99. Shame as it's a great wine for easy drinking, however now pushed into a higher price bracket.

    Suprisingly good

Orvieto of memory (mine anyway) was not half as good as this. Very smooth but there is interest and sophistication too. Kick your Pinot Grigio into touch and give this classier cousin a go.
