Grape

Viognier

Origin
Château de Pennautier has been in the Lorgeril family since 1620. Nicolas and Miren de Lorgeril are the tenth generation of vignerons at this historic domaine.
Taste
The nose reveals honeysuckle, fresh apricots and even a hint of sherbert. Crisp and fresh, with flavours following aromas of the nose and a well balnced lingering finish.
Enjoy
An excellent apéritif, however also goes well with all manner of salads, quiches, and grilled fish.

    very disapointing

no length or depth of flavour, once swallowed you can't even remember what it tasted like,

    Pink tinged and gorgeous

My wife and I are red lovers - particularly Italian. But having accidentally extended our white horizons from SA & NZ sauvignon blanc to Viognier (via and a!) we tried this one from Majestic. It's gorgeous! Pink tinged and lovely. Dry with fruit but with subtleties not often found in new world whites. We're loving it - enjoy!

  • As elegant as the massive château that adorns the label (2010 )

"Only a vin de pays but as elegant as the massive château that adorns the label and made in the Montagne Noire area of the Languedoc by a 10th-generation wine-making family. Typically aromatic with scents of peaches and apricots on the nose, big fruit tastes, with buttery, honey touches and a long dry finish. Try with scallops or any flat white fish with a lemony sauce. (Terry Kirby, Independent on Sunday, 27th May 2012)"

  • This delicious, good value Viognier (2011 Vintage)

"This delicious, good value Viognier from a historic estate in Languedoc would make a fitting partner to the mix of herby citrusy flavours in this week’s dish. It also makes a wonderful match for spicy food. (Giles Kime, The Telegraph, 17th June 2012)"

  • ...

"Family owned since the 17th century, this estate has produced a delightful wine, with classic Viognier traits, but delivered in a restrained, not blowsy style. Cool, mineral lines, notes of nectarine, orange and apricot, and a crisp finish"
