    Perfect for the price

This is delicious for the the price you're paying...nothing too complex but really fruity and very gluggable. It's a great party wine and I always get positive comments on it.

A truly delightful medium bodied red

I first found this wine a year ago and every bottle further increases my enjoyment of this luscious red. Works particularly well with Pasta dishes, Braised beef and Liver and onions. very inexpensive and worth every penny.

    Decent

This IS what House French Red is all about. Lighter alcohol level, jucier fruit and a lack of oak getting in the way. A classic Majestic wine, and consistently priced cheaply. The only reason people think they can get more for their money is that the UK market is dominated by so-called 'discounted' wines that have an offer on for a few weeks. Save your time searching for these offers and just get this if you want a decent red.

    Not convinced.

Based on reviews given by people that have for more knowledge about wine than I had had hight hopes for this "bargain" wine. After half a dozen bottles, I have to say that yes, it's sound, but there are better wines available at the same price.

Press Reviews

  • An unpretentious, easy drinkable vin de pays (2011 Vintage)

"This is typical French table wine style – an unpretentious, easy drinkable vin de pays, blended from Carignan, Grenache and Merlot grapes in the Aude area near Carcassonne, low (-ish) in alcohol at 12 per cent and with smooth, but fresh, juicy fruit flavours left untouched by oak. (Terry Kirby, The Independent, 29th July 2012)"

  • "Another unpretentious glugger, this time from the far south. Like the Beaujolais above, this is light on tannins and high on fruit, but there is something warming and friendly about it. A blend of carignan, grenache and merlot, it's on the cooked rather than fresh end of the fruit spectrum: think red plum compote or jam."
