"2005 was a great Bordeaux vintage, only eclipsed in recent years by 2009. So I’d rather have a bottle of this claret that is not even of cru classé (or classed growth) quality, than the The Laughing Magpie. Made from two-thirds cabernet, to one-third merlot, with a dash of petit verdot and part-aged in new oak, this overdelivers on every front. I adored its classy, full, fat, gamey, cedary, blackcurranty fruit."
