Grape

Pedro Ximenez

Origin
Produced by the Hidalgo Family bodega, established in 1792 in Sanlúcar. Made using grapes dried on straw mats, fermented and fortified, then aged under the solaria system. One of the sweetest wines in the world, PX is about as sweet as things can get!
Taste
Aromas of raisins, molasses, figs, toffee, caramel, nuts, the palate is incredibly thick, dense, with an oily texture, massive concentration and unsurpassed sweetness and prolonged length.
Enjoy
The ultimate sweet wine! Fantastic when poured over ice-cream.

    Just add......

dried vine fruit to a kilner jar - cover with Pedro - allow fruits to soak in the liquid and enjoy with ice cream - cheese - yoghurt - so many uses and tastes divine. A superb bottle of heaven.

    Christmas in a bottle

As the turkey slowly cooks and the log fire burns ... this is quite simply Christmas in a bottle. One glass while cooking will have you singing Jingle bells all day. Gorgeous.

A delicious sweet wine that may alter your view of sherry

This is my fifth bottle in two years and it is a delight for anyone who enjoys a good pudding wine. This is how a sweet sherry should be, warm, complex and moreish. Excellent value.

    Christmas pudding champion

Was recommended this sherry by the Majestic staff in 2010 and it was first on my list for this year's Christmas pudding accompaniment.

    WOW

Went into the local store (CARDIFF) looking for some ideas for Xmas pudding and wanted something strong enough to stand up to that beast. was offered a taste of this and had to buy it...absolutely stunning, I have a million ideas to try it with desserts and even a sip on its own is beautiful..rich, warm and complex with all the dried fruit and rich spice in there, with a lovely soft smooth finish that just glides away..can't recommend it highly enough - just right for this time of year :)

  • "A gold-medal winning wine oozing rich toffee and black treacle, with notes of plump raisins and dates and hints of chocolate. Pour straight on to ice-creams, parfaits or meringues."
