En Primeur wines are still in barrel at the châteaux and are sold as ‘futures’ up to two years in advance of delivery. The price includes delivery in-bond to a dedicated storage account. Before your wine arrives in the UK you will have the option to specify duty-paid delivery to an address of your choice, but you will need to pay a release fee to cover duty, VAT and handling at the prevailing rates.

Description

The nose is still a little closed at this stage, but reveals some herbaceous notes, smokiness, and spiced plum. The palate is packed with ginger, nutmeg and sweet dark fruit tempered by some earthy floral notes, with a powerful attack of structural tannins and fresh acidity becoming apparent on the finish. A big Port with a long life ahead of it. Majestic score: 19/20

"A blend of 55% Touriga Nacional and 45% Tinta Franca, picked at 3.80 Baume (the former on 30 year old vines at just 0.7kg/vine). A deep, opaque purple colour. The nose is reticent at first, reluctantly revealing macerated black cherries, blueberry, violets and a touch of rose petals. Very feminine and refined. The palate is medium-bodied, very fine tannins with blackberry, Xmas cake, ginger and a touch of dark honey towards the finish. It has a very attractive sense of energy and tension towards the finish. Good length. A vivacious Vesuvio! 94 points."

"This is black in color. Sweet berry and plum on the nose, with wet earth, pepper and leaf notes. Minerally. Full-bodied and medium sweet, with a solid core of tannins and a dense palate. Long and chewy, with a core of sweet fruit. 92-95 points."
